Finca Es Castells

Es Castell has been voted one of the ten prettiest hotels in Mallorca.

Here the silence is broken only by the hum of cicadas during the day and the far-away tinkling of sheep bells at night.

Take a leisurely stroll within the grounds of the 750-acre finca, picking fruits and nuts as you go, or simply stop and admire the incongruous shapes of the gnarled, centuries-old olive trees, which are amongst the oldest to be found anywhere on the island.

If you prefer something more energetic, fishing, biking and horse-riding can be organized at short notice. If you decide to go to the beach, drive 20 minutes to Pollensa to a lovely sandy beach or a little further if you prefer craggy bays where the sharp granite rocks seem to tumble into the sea. If golf is your game, you are spoilt for choice - the nearest is again at Pollensa, but there are several more not much further away.

There is excellent shopping in Inca and, of course, Palma, but, if you prefer to remain “away from the madding crowd,” the quaint villages of Caimari, Selva and Moscari are just at a stone’s throw.

Other day excursions include the caves at Campanet, the monastery of Lluc and the ruined castle of Alaró.
